2012 is going to be a very special year! The 2012 Olympics! The Queen's Diamond Jubilee! Starting the celebrations in Portsmouth, his birthplace, the BiCentenary of the birth of Charles Dickens, one of the world's most famous authors whose books still dominate today.

Portsmouth has a rich heritage steeped in the nation’s maritime history, most famously represented by HMS Victory a 250 year old warship from the Battle of Trafalgar, (linked to Trafalgar Square in London).   Now home to the 21st century Royal Navy, you can take a harbour trip to view the latest high-tech warships.  Gunwharf Quays with its iconic Spinnaker Tower, is a stunning harbour-side development with retail outlets, restaurants, nightclubs and entertainment.

Southsea many grand houses built during the reign of Queen Victoria enjoy mile-long open parkland by to the seafront which offers great views from the beaches across The Solent to the Isle of Wight.   This pretty resort has many top-class restaurants and boasts attractions for all ages, including the D-Day Museum, Southsea Castle, a SeaLife Centre and a funfair.  Every weekend during the summer there is always a fair or festival and live music ensuring a lively fun atmosphere.
